Completion of Major North Sea Project using X-Flow Analytics™

Sevenpoint Engineering have recently completed a large P&A study with a Major UK Operator using their cutting-edge X-Flow Analytics™ software.

Leakage pathways in P&A wells and the risk of crossflow (X-flow) into overburden formations were modelled and quantified over thousands of years. The P&A well model was then integrated with the subsurface model to assess the impact of X-flow by evaluating fluid migration and potential leakage risks from nearby wells and faults.

This analysis was conducted across multiple P&A design scenarios, considering varying reservoir recharge behaviours, including pressure, fluid type, density, and available hydrocarbon volume. The final results supported operator in decision-making, ensuring ALARP-compliant P&A designs as well as optimising P&A strategies for nearby wells potentially affected by reservoir recharge and X-flow.
